Hitchcock Production Day

My class and I were doing research on Alfred Hitchcock and we watched a bunch of clips from his iconic films (The Birds, Psycho, etc.). Certain shots from these clips were what made the sequences effective. 

To learn how to make our own film scenes effective, we took inspiration from the critically acclaimed filmmaker and planned a full 5-hour day of school dedicated to replicating some of Alfred Hitchcock's many iconic and commonly used shots. We then spent some more lesson time editing our own montages of our shots.

1. Show, Don't Tell - Various Close Ups and Controlled Camera Movement to convey meaning

For the final montage, I wanted to challenge myself a bit with the editing, so I created a text reveal opening credit indicating my name. 

I used a draw mask in Final Cut Pro X and moved the control points of the mask for every frame from the time I started moving to the time when all of the text is revealed.
